Dear Mr. Witten:

Thank you for your letter dated May 22, 2009 in response to my letter about the Kurdish refugees near the Iraqi-Jordan border.  We would like to thank you sincerely for the services you have provided thus far to them.  We would like to see this group of Kurdish refugees find a more secure place to live.  However, it is my understanding that they are convinced that if they relocate to Kurdistan-Iraq they will be forgotten by UNHCR and that there will be no chance for them to relocate to a third country.

Since you asked us to talk to them and convince them to relocate to Kurdistan can you give us some assurance to offer them that after they are relocated to Kurdistan-Iraq they will be assisted by the UNHCR in resettling them in a third country?

Without such assurance it will be difficult for us to convince them.  We certainly appreciate your assistance in this matter because this is a desperate group of refugees who are in dire need of your help.

Sincerely yours,
Kirmanj Gundi
President
