Dear Mr. Witten:
We have been informed by the fellow Kurdish refugees from Iran near the Iraqi-Jordan border that a delegation from the UNHCR had visited them. We thank you for taking time and sent a UN Team to gain more understanding about the Kurdish refugees’ situation in the camp.
We think, after the UN delegation visited the camp, the deplorable status of these refugees is better known to you. Therefore, we are hopeful that you would offer your assistance to find a third country for them so they can resume their life.
They are concerned about the future of their children and are eager to have their children settled in a peaceful and democratic country, where they can live in peace, and be able to go to school.
As you probably know, there are Kurdish refugees from Iran in the KRG area. I believe it is true to say that these refugees struggle to obtain their daily basic needs. Perhaps, the KRG is in a delicate situation with Iran and doesn’t want to be perceived as if it were providing comfort zone for dissidents of the Iranian regime. Thus, relocating these refugees to Kurdistan-Iraq would put them in the same execrable situation.
Please help them to find a place where they can have a life with integrity as their integrity has been shattered for so long and you are their only hope, please help them.
We highly appreciate any assistance you may offer to assist these desperate refugees.
Sincerely yours,
Kirmanj Gundi
President
